The fashion editor's bulletin: All the industry news you need to know now
From designer collaborations to charitable initiatives and exciting launches, we round up what's happening this month
October follows on from a very exciting month in fashion, which not only saw the return of in-person fashion shows, major brand collaborations and a fashion first in the form of The Simpsons x Balenciaga, but also the return of the Met Gala and a number of initiatives whereby many brands and retailers dedicated themselves to bettering their sustainability credentials as a result of Oxfam's Secondhand September.
And now, as we head into October, a new season is in the air, autumn is in full swing, and there is much to look forward to.
Below, we round up the most exciting fashion news and launches you need to know about now. From the beautiful Alber Elbaz tribute to close out Paris Fashion Week to sustainable drives from the likes of Browns and Mother of Pearl, as well as diversity commitments at Net-a-Porter and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's second footwear collection, here is everything that's happening in the world of fashion this October.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley collaborates on footwear
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's second collection with Italian footwear brand Gia Borghini has just launched – and it is just as covetable as the first. This season, there are thigh-grazing boots in a new eco-leather, lace-up heeled sandals and some seriously stompy leather boots, which are perfect for the autumn weather. Everything is inspired by female empowerment and aims to appeal to independence, sophistication and strength.
"As things are reopening, I am looking forward to dressing up and going out," Huntington-Whiteley said. "This collection will transition you from day to night, versatile for every autumn wardrobe."
